2017 - 2022 Family Incivility and Job-Life Satisfaction: Dual - Stage Moderated Mediation Models of Burnout and Psychological Capital
Building on the work-home resources model and the conservation of resources theory, this study proposes and investigates moderated mediation models on the influence of doctors' family incivility and burnout on their job-life satisfaction as a function of psychological capital at two stages. Using a time-lagged methodological design, this study collected data in two waves. The final sample included 486 doctors working at hospitals in the Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu, India. Statistical analysis of the aforementioned relationships was performed in SPSS 23.0 using the PROCESS macro. The findings show substantial evidence for burnout's ediation effect, which suggests that doctors who face family incivility at home experience burnout at work, influencing their job and life satisfaction. Furthermore, when doctors have high psychological capital, the indirect effect of family incivility on job and life satisfaction through burnout is mitigated at both stages. By looking into the fundamental mechanisms that link family incivility to various career and life outcomes, this study contributes to the work-home, family incivility, and stress coping literature. Despite procedural cautions, there remains potential for common method bias. Longitudinal study and model validation across many samples are suggested. This study adds to the limited body of evidence about uncivil family behavior's job and life ramifications. This is one of the first studies to empirically demonstrate the long-term negative repercussions of family incivility as burnout. The implications of these findings, applications, and extending the work-home resources model to the family domain are thoroughly discussed. Keywords: Family Incivility, Job Satisfaction, life satisfaction, Burnout, Psychological capital, moderated mediation, conservation of resources, work-home interface.
