2014 - 2015 Prototyping a Vibrato-Aware Query-By-Humming (QBH) Music Information Retrieval System for Mobile Communication Devices: The Case Study of Chromatic Harmonica
Music Information Retrieval (MIR), as a research field, focuses on the development of models, algorithms, and techniques that facilitates optimum access to music tracks. Query-By-Humming music information retrieval is a new trend in this domain of human knowledge. This research aimed at prototyping query-by-humming music information retrieval systems for smart phones. This multi-method research followed simulation technique from mixed models of the operations research methodology, and the documentary research method, simultaneously. Two chromatic harmonica albums comprised the research population. To achieve the purpose of research, 24 homophonic tracks were splitted by using Helium Audio Splitter software. The splits were processed by Sonic Visualiser software; and 168 XML documents were produced. On the other hand, 4 research participants hummed and recorded splits. Hummed tracks were converted by using AMR to MP3 Converter software, processed by Sonic Visualiser, and resulted in 672 XML documents. MATLAB software was instructed by the first group of XML documents (168), and then, processed the second group of XML documents (672) for providing desirable outputs. Outputs were compared by using Image Comparer software. Findings indicated a high degree of similarity (99 %) between outputs of two groups of XML documents. It was also found that the gender and the music skill did not have any impact on the results. Therefore, it could be acknowledged that designing query-by-humming systems based on converting audio to XML documents, and document matching, is an appropriate strategy towards developing music retrieval applications for smart phones.

2002 - 2003 Evaluation of Meta-tags of the Iranian Websites
Digital information retrieval has been as a problem, and at the same time a research interest for information scientists in recent years. They have planned some solutions to solve problems manifested during the 1990s. Designing meta-tags and applying them to HTML documents was a remedy in this direction. Meta-tags can help authors, publishers and indexers of Web pages to analyze intended content more precisely and efficiently. The aim of this survey was to measure meta-tags of the Iranian Web sites in accordance with an international criterion. To carry out the research, 346 Iranian Web sites were selected among 3,342, which represented a sample of all Web sites existed in Iranhoo, an Iranian Web directory. The source codes of the sample home pages were reviewed in terms of the presence of keywords and description meta-tags. The findings of the survey showed that 31.5 percent and 24.6 percent of the Iranian Web sites had keywords and description meta-tags respectively. The paper concluded that the Iranian Web sites were lower than non-Iranian Web sites in terms of the use of meta-tags.
