2024 - 2025 Uzbekistan Discovery Camp: Silk Road & Cultural Exploration
Uzbek Language and Culture Summer course is established with the aim to give an opportunity to international students to learn about Uzbekistan and explore the beauty of it. The program offers a comprehensive study of Uzbekistan's rich cultural heritage, which is a land that has a significant history and was an important crossroad on the ancient Silk Road. The course provides students with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the Uzbek language and culture, with 25 Uzbek language sessions per week taught by proficient and experienced teachers. Additionally, students can attend art and history lectures and discussions, and also enjoy an informative guided tour around old Tashkent city and the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Bukhara, Samarkand, Khiva, with our cultural assistants. Finally, students can participate in a range of extracurricular activities such as game nights, sports, and cultural events. Course Duration: 2 weeks (Intensive Summer Program) Aug 12 - Aug 25.

2024 - 2026 The Impact of Sociodemographic Factors on IELTS Test Takers’ Scores in Uzbekistan
Recently, Uzbekistan has witnessed a growing demand for IELTS exams among its population, especially the youth. IELTS certificates are widely accepted and used across higher education institutions in Uzbekistan and beyond, particularly in admitting students to studies at a tertiary level and incrementing salaries in educational and non-educational organisations. Attaining an IELTS certificate, especially with a score of above 7.0, has become a sign of exceptional achievement in the Uzbek society. However, little research, if any, has been conducted on the influence of sociodemographic factors on candidates’ exam preparation experiences and results. Thus, the proposed research study aims to explore the relationship between test takers' age, gender, region, linguistic capabilities, access to online resources in various languages and IELTS scores, identify any disparities in average scores across demographic groups and propose recommendations to improve score equity and support systems. The study will employ both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The data provided by the British Council Exams Services will be exposed to descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. Semi-structured interviews will be conducted with 150 IELTS test takers to gain insights into their exam preparation experiences. The research findings will help inform future policies and support systems relevant to the context of Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
